Russia’s Trade with Switzerland

In the 1st quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Switzerland was $1,259,042,196, down 9.96% ($139,321,143) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Switzerland in the 1st quarter of 2018 were $666,722,561, down 31.18% ($302,019,586) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Switzerland in the 1st quarter of 2018 totaled $592,319,635, up 37.87% ($162,698,443) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Switzerland in the 1st quarter of 2018 was $74,402,926, a 86.20% decrease ($464,718,029) over the 1st quarter of 2017.

Switzerland was Russia’s 29th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2018 (down from 20th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.7987% of Russia’s total trade (down from 1.0878% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Switzerland was Russia’s 35th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2018 (down from 20th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.6472% of Russia’s total exports (down from 1.1624% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Switzerland was Russia’s 20th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2018 (up from 25th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 1.0846% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.9502% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Switzerland

The major share of Russian exports to Switzerland in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 53.81% of Russia’s total exports to Switzerland (46.52% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 28.91% of Russia’s total exports to Switzerland (25.80% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 11.41% of Russia’s total exports to Switzerland (25.09% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
