Russia’s Trade with Argentina

In the 2nd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Argentina totaled $431,328,433, up 39.50% ($122,130,399) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Argentina in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $160,033,147, up 70.19% ($66,000,016) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Argentina in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $271,295,286, up 26.09% ($56,130,383) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade deficit with Argentina in the 2nd quarter of 2018 was $111,262,139, a 8.15% decrease ($9,869,633) over the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Argentina was Russia’s 53rd largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (up from 58th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.2524% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.2212% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Argentina was Russia’s 69th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (up from 71st in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.1452% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.1120% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Argentina was Russia’s 38th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (up from 47th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.4469% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.3857% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Argentina

The major share of Russian exports to Argentina in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 82.49% of Russia’s total exports to Argentina (76.00% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 11.48% of Russia’s total exports to Argentina (20.45% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 3.83% of Russia’s total exports to Argentina (0.86% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 1.11% of Russia’s total exports to Argentina (0.61% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);

  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - an increase of $1,038,561;

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Argentina in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $2,413,109;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $584,408.

Russia’s Imports from Argentina

The major share of Russian imports from Argentina in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:
