Russia’s Trade with Costa Rica

In the 2nd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Costa Rica totaled $55,181,663, up 47.42% ($17,749,103) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Costa Rica in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $28,810,916, up 128.74% ($16,215,515) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Costa Rica in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $26,370,747, up 6.17% ($1,533,588) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade balance with Costa Rica went from a deficit of $12,241,758 in the 2nd quarter of 2017, to a surplus of $2,440,169 in the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Costa Rica was Russia’s 96th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (up from 104th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0323% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0268% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Costa Rica was Russia’s 100th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (up from 111th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0261% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0150% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Costa Rica was Russia’s 84th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (down from 82nd in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0434% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0445% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Imports from Costa Rica

The major share of Russian imports from Costa Rica in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 66.39% of Russia’s total imports from Costa Rica (51.72% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 32.36% of Russia’s total imports from Costa Rica (46.31% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).
