Russia’s Trade with Lebanon

In the 2nd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Lebanon was $89,186,375, down 43.26% ($67,996,576) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Lebanon in the 2nd quarter of 2018 were $86,124,976, down 44.38% ($68,716,075) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Lebanon in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $3,061,399, up 30.72% ($719,499) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Lebanon in the 2nd quarter of 2018 was $83,063,577, a 45.53% decrease ($69,435,574) over the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Lebanon was Russia’s 84th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (down from 71st in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0522% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.1125% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Lebanon was Russia’s 77th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (down from 59th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0782% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.1844% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Lebanon was Russia’s 116th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (just as in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0050% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0042% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Lebanon

The major share of Russian exports to Lebanon in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 78.29% of Russia’s total exports to Lebanon (44.95% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 9.02% of Russia’s total exports to Lebanon (4.07% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 4.85% of Russia’s total exports to Lebanon (38.75% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 3.91% of Russia’s total exports to Lebanon (4.52% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.38% of Russia’s total exports to Lebanon (3.44% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Lebanon in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $1,736,032;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $1,720,941;
  • Cocoa and cocoa preparations (HS code 18) - an increase of $961,653;
  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - an increase of $328,463;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - an increase of $277,669.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Lebanon in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $55,829,530;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $5,293,688;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - a decrease of $5,147,696;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $3,758,061;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - a decrease of $3,713,866.
