Russia’s Trade with Norway

In the 2nd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Norway totaled $509,629,109, up 21.09% ($88,751,034) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Norway in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $313,647,732, up 103.16% ($159,263,088) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Norway in the 2nd quarter of 2018 were $195,981,377, down 26.46% ($70,512,054) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade balance with Norway went from a deficit of $112,108,787 in the 2nd quarter of 2017, to a surplus of $117,666,355 in the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Norway was Russia’s 48th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (up from 49th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.2982% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.3011% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Norway was Russia’s 48th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (up from 60th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.2846% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.1839% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Norway was Russia’s 47th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (down from 37th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.3228% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.4777% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Norway

The major share of Russian exports to Norway in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 67.12% of Russia’s total exports to Norway (34.83% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 18.45% of Russia’s total exports to Norway (36.97% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 6.07% of Russia’s total exports to Norway (3.12% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.47% of Russia’s total exports to Norway (14.28% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
