Russia’s Trade with Pakistan

In the 2nd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Pakistan totaled $170,001,808, up 33.55% ($42,704,410) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Pakistan in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $92,115,325, up 27.40% ($19,811,207) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Pakistan in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $77,886,483, up 41.63% ($22,893,203) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Pakistan in the 2nd quarter of 2018 was $14,228,842, a 17.80% decrease ($3,081,996) over the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Pakistan was Russia’s 78th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (down from 73rd in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0995% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0911% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Pakistan was Russia’s 74th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (up from 78th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0836% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0861% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Pakistan was Russia’s 64th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (up from 67th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.1283% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0986% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Pakistan

The major share of Russian exports to Pakistan in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 35.45% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (23.76% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 18.16% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (17.89% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 18.08% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (2.14% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 10.28% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (15.66% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 8.80% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (8.77% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);

  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - an increase of $14,909,140;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $4,024,915;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $3,981,717;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $1,342,986;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $748,600;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $640,379;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $504,244.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Pakistan in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Ships, boats and floating structures (HS code 89) - a decrease of $4,500,310;
  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - a decrease of $1,378,764;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $1,185,395;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $1,076,358;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $740,255;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $457,836.
