Russia’s Trade with Venezuela

In the 2nd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Venezuela totaled $32,514,132, up 1,047.70% ($29,681,161) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Venezuela in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $32,241,827, up 1,080.18% ($29,509,882) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Venezuela in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $272,305, up 169.54% ($171,279) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Venezuela in the 2nd quarter of 2018 was $31,969,522, a 1,115.15% increase ($29,338,603) over the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Venezuela was Russia’s 111th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (up from 154th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0190% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0020% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Venezuela was Russia’s 97th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (up from 138th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0293% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0033% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Venezuela was Russia’s 142nd largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (up from 150th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0004% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0002% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $1,122,063;

The major share of Russian imports from Venezuela in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 85.10% of Russia’s total imports from Venezuela (92.85% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 0.97% of Russia’s total imports from Venezuela (7.15% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Venezuela in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:
