Russia’s Trade with Iceland

In the 4th quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Iceland totaled $16,182,340, up 28.81% ($3,619,771) from the 4th quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Iceland in the 4th quarter of 2018 totaled $6,169,115, up 23.91% ($1,190,211) from the 4th quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Iceland in the 4th quarter of 2018 totaled $10,013,225, up 32.04% ($2,429,560) from the 4th quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade deficit with Iceland in the 4th quarter of 2018 was $3,844,110, a 47.58% increase ($1,239,349) over the 4th quarter of 2017.

Iceland was Russia’s 132nd largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2018 (down from 129th in the 4th quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0087% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0075% in the 4th quarter of 2017).

Iceland was Russia’s 137th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2018 (down from 130th in the 4th quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0050% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0048% in the 4th quarter of 2017).

Iceland was Russia’s 99th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2018 (just as in the 4th quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0161% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0118% in the 4th quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Iceland

The major share of Russian exports to Iceland in the 4th quarter of 2018 (and in the 4th quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Iceland in the 4th quarter of 2018 over the 4th quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $766,571;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $303,055;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $37,413;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $34,280.

Russia’s Imports from Iceland

The major share of Russian imports from Iceland in the 4th quarter of 2018 (and in the 4th quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 59.99% of Russia’s total imports from Iceland (38.86% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 27.01% of Russia’s total imports from Iceland (31.63% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
