Russia’s Trade with Indonesia

In the 4th quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Indonesia was $832,583,367, down 30.81% ($370,789,196) from the 4th quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Indonesia in the 4th quarter of 2018 totaled $360,281,989, up 18.35% ($55,859,762) from the 4th quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Indonesia in the 4th quarter of 2018 were $472,301,378, down 47.46% ($426,648,958) from the 4th quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade deficit with Indonesia in the 4th quarter of 2018 was $112,019,389, a 81.16% decrease ($482,508,720) over the 4th quarter of 2017.

Indonesia was Russia’s 40th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2018 (down from 32nd in the 4th quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.4456% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.7200% in the 4th quarter of 2017).

Indonesia was Russia’s 49th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2018 (up from 51st in the 4th quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.2894% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.2959% in the 4th quarter of 2017).

Indonesia was Russia’s 29th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2018 (down from 18th in the 4th quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.7576% of Russia’s total imports (down from 1.3985% in the 4th quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Indonesia

The major share of Russian exports to Indonesia in the 4th quarter of 2018 (and in the 4th quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 33.09% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (28.16% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 25.47% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (17.06% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 21.67% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (26.95% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 10.15% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (20.07% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 4.12% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (2.66% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.28% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (1.63% in the 4th quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Indonesia in the 4th quarter of 2018 over the 4th quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $34,356,078;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $5,135,389;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $3,304,997;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $2,357,080;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - an increase of $1,246,400;
  • Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - an increase of $1,145,062.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Indonesia in the 4th quarter of 2018 over the 4th quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $25,791,484;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $10,274,299;

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 13.45% of Russia’s total imports from Indonesia (53.16% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 13.35% of Russia’s total imports from Indonesia (7.18% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 9.48% of Russia’s total imports from Indonesia (5.19% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
