Russia’s Trade with Lebanon

In the 4th quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Lebanon was $96,656,435, down 42.88% ($72,551,484) from the 4th quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Lebanon in the 4th quarter of 2018 were $93,485,355, down 43.94% ($73,284,456) from the 4th quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Lebanon in the 4th quarter of 2018 totaled $3,171,080, up 30.06% ($732,972) from the 4th quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Lebanon in the 4th quarter of 2018 was $90,314,275, a 45.04% decrease ($74,017,428) over the 4th quarter of 2017.

Lebanon was Russia’s 91st largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2018 (down from 75th in the 4th quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0517% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.1012% in the 4th quarter of 2017).

Lebanon was Russia’s 81st largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2018 (down from 65th in the 4th quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0751% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.1621% in the 4th quarter of 2017).

Lebanon was Russia’s 117th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2018 (down from 114th in the 4th quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0051% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0038% in the 4th quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Lebanon

The major share of Russian exports to Lebanon in the 4th quarter of 2018 (and in the 4th quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 62.48% of Russia’s total exports to Lebanon (56.28% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 16.79% of Russia’s total exports to Lebanon (31.21% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 9.62% of Russia’s total exports to Lebanon (6.62% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 6.39% of Russia’s total exports to Lebanon (2.55% in the 4th quarter of 2017);

  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - an increase of $1,218,731;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $980,330;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $780,697;
  • Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - an increase of $468,642;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $448,488.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Lebanon in the 4th quarter of 2018 over the 4th quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $37,570,042;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $25,473,478;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - a decrease of $8,433,741;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $4,024,306;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - a decrease of $1,113,246;
  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - a decrease of $1,028,016;
  • Residues and waste from the food industries; prepared animal feed (HS code 23) - a decrease of $753,819;
  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - a decrease of $559,666;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $378,142.
