Russia’s Trade with Mongolia

In the 4th quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Mongolia totaled $558,458,787, up 20.55% ($95,186,727) from the 4th quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Mongolia in the 4th quarter of 2018 totaled $545,933,657, up 21.46% ($96,471,550) from the 4th quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Mongolia in the 4th quarter of 2018 were $12,525,130, down 9.30% ($1,284,823) from the 4th quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Mongolia in the 4th quarter of 2018 was $533,408,527, a 22.44% increase ($97,756,373) over the 4th quarter of 2017.

Mongolia was Russia’s 48th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2018 (up from 53rd in the 4th quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.2989% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.2772% in the 4th quarter of 2017).

Mongolia was Russia’s 39th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2018 (up from 43rd in the 4th quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.4385% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.4369% in the 4th quarter of 2017).

Mongolia was Russia’s 96th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2018 (down from 94th in the 4th quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0201% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0215% in the 4th quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Mongolia

The major share of Russian exports to Mongolia in the 4th quarter of 2018 (and in the 4th quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 71.53% of Russia’s total exports to Mongolia (66.65% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 10.03% of Russia’s total exports to Mongolia (15.85% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 8.24% of Russia’s total exports to Mongolia (7.75% in the 4th quarter of 2017);

  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $10,850,389;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $4,344,404;
