Russia’s Trade with Sri Lanka
In the 4th quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Sri Lanka was $104,920,498, down 5.79% ($6,446,501) from the 4th quarter of 2017.
Russia’s exports to Sri Lanka in the 4th quarter of 2018 totaled $35,865,740, up 38.30% ($9,932,341) from the 4th quarter of 2017.
Russia’s imports from Sri Lanka in the 4th quarter of 2018 were $69,054,758, down 19.17% ($16,378,842) from the 4th quarter of 2017.
Russia’s trade deficit with Sri Lanka in the 4th quarter of 2018 was $33,189,018, a 44.22% decrease ($26,311,183) over the 4th quarter of 2017.
Sri Lanka was Russia’s 88th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2018 (down from 83rd in the 4th quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0562% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0666% in the 4th quarter of 2017).
Sri Lanka was Russia’s 95th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2018 (up from 102nd in the 4th quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0288% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0252% in the 4th quarter of 2017).
Sri Lanka was Russia’s 68th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2018 (down from 63rd in the 4th quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.1108% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.1329% in the 4th quarter of 2017).
Russia’s Exports to Sri Lanka
The major share of Russian exports to Sri Lanka in the 4th quarter of 2018 (and in the 4th quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:
- Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 46.98% of Russia’s total exports to Sri Lanka (0.10% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
- Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 18.16% of Russia’s total exports to Sri Lanka (63.37% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
- Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 14.88% of Russia’s total exports to Sri Lanka (4.57% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
- Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 10.08% of Russia’s total exports to Sri Lanka (14.59% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
- Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 9.60% of Russia’s total exports to Sri Lanka (13.88% in the 4th quarter of 2017).

- Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - an increase of $2,320,321;
- Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $1,831,275;
- Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $230,961;
- Coffee, tea, maté and spices (HS code 09) - an increase of $201,430;
- Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $132,332.
The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Sri Lanka in the 4th quarter of 2018 over the 4th quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:
- Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $9,913,166;
- Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - a decrease of $477,972;
- Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $306,165;

Russia’s Imports from Sri Lanka
