Russia’s Trade with Sweden

In the 4th quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Sweden totaled $1,372,860,488, up 22.47% ($251,895,458) from the 4th quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Sweden in the 4th quarter of 2018 totaled $786,473,603, up 56.39% ($283,586,439) from the 4th quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Sweden in the 4th quarter of 2018 were $586,386,885, down 5.13% ($31,690,981) from the 4th quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade balance with Sweden went from a deficit of $115,190,702 in the 4th quarter of 2017, to a surplus of $200,086,718 in the 4th quarter of 2018.

Sweden was Russia’s 28th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2018 (up from 35th in the 4th quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.7348% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.6707% in the 4th quarter of 2017).

Sweden was Russia’s 36th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2018 (up from 41st in the 4th quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.6317% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.4889% in the 4th quarter of 2017).

Sweden was Russia’s 27th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2018 (down from 26th in the 4th quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.9406% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.9615% in the 4th quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Sweden

The major share of Russian exports to Sweden in the 4th quarter of 2018 (and in the 4th quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 69.22% of Russia’s total exports to Sweden (69.17% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 20.60% of Russia’s total exports to Sweden (20.04% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 4.07% of Russia’s total exports to Sweden (4.08% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 2.03% of Russia’s total exports to Sweden (2.29% in the 4th quarter of 2017);

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Sweden in the 4th quarter of 2018 over the 4th quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:
