Russia’s Trade with Uruguay

In the 4th quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Uruguay totaled $63,241,545, up 38.34% ($17,526,634) from the 4th quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Uruguay in the 4th quarter of 2018 were $8,195,740, down 9.05% ($815,676) from the 4th quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Uruguay in the 4th quarter of 2018 totaled $55,045,805, up 49.97% ($18,342,310) from the 4th quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade deficit with Uruguay in the 4th quarter of 2018 was $46,850,065, a 69.18% increase ($19,157,986) over the 4th quarter of 2017.

Uruguay was Russia’s 100th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2018 (up from 103rd in the 4th quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0338% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0274% in the 4th quarter of 2017).

Uruguay was Russia’s 128th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2018 (down from 118th in the 4th quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0066% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0088% in the 4th quarter of 2017).

Uruguay was Russia’s 74th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2018 (up from 78th in the 4th quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0883% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0571% in the 4th quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Uruguay

The major share of Russian exports to Uruguay in the 4th quarter of 2018 (and in the 4th quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 85.61% of Russia’s total exports to Uruguay (81.96% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 6.46% of Russia’s total exports to Uruguay (15.34% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 4.26% of Russia’s total exports to Uruguay (0.00% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.77% of Russia’s total exports to Uruguay (1.35% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.68% of Russia’s total exports to Uruguay (0.48% in the 4th quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Uruguay in the 4th quarter of 2018 over the 4th quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $791,209;
  • Wool, fine or coarse animal hair; horsehair yarn and woven fabric (HS code 51) - an increase of $348,651;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - an increase of $72,482;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $70,649;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $45,383.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Uruguay in the 4th quarter of 2018 over the 4th quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $1,083,714;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $925,402;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - a decrease of $70,009;
  • Beverages, spirits and vinegar (HS code 22) - a decrease of $38,227.

Russia’s Imports from Uruguay

The major share of Russian imports from Uruguay in the 4th quarter of 2018 (and in the 4th quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 98.44% of Russia’s total imports from Uruguay (99.83% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 1.23% of Russia’s total imports from Uruguay (0.03% in the 4th quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Uruguay in the 4th quarter of 2018 over the 4th quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Uruguay in the 4th quarter of 2018 over the 4th quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Edible fruit and nuts; peel of citrus fruit or melons (HS code 08) - a decrease of $963,240;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - a decrease of $338,855.
