Russia’s Trade with Colombia

In the 1st quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Colombia was $49,501,199, down 38.31% ($30,740,782) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Colombia in the 1st quarter of 2019 were $25,294,788, down 56.65% ($33,054,470) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Colombia in the 1st quarter of 2019 totaled $24,206,411, up 10.57% ($2,313,688) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Colombia in the 1st quarter of 2019 was $1,088,377, a 97.01% decrease ($35,368,158) over the 1st quarter of 2018.

Colombia was Russia’s 99th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2019 (down from 86th in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0314% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0509% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Colombia was Russia’s 96th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2019 (down from 80th in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0242% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0566% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Colombia was Russia’s 83rd largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2019 (up from 85th in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0456% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0401% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Colombia

The major share of Russian exports to Colombia in the 1st quarter of 2019 (and in the 1st quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 64.85% of Russia’s total exports to Colombia (22.78% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 12.40% of Russia’s total exports to Colombia (3.50% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 8.45% of Russia’s total exports to Colombia (9.01% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 7.72% of Russia’s total exports to Colombia (62.13% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 5.75% of Russia’s total exports to Colombia (2.31% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Colombia in the 1st quarter of 2019 over the 1st quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $2,245,054;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - an increase of $1,386,093;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $932,936;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $411,207;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $407,672.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Colombia in the 1st quarter of 2019 over the 1st quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $34,296,634;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $1,355,015;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $1,093,416;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $619,242;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $316,204;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $258,106;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $228,456;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - a decrease of $118,719;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $108,554;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - a decrease of $88,201.

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 6.89% of Russia’s total imports from Colombia (5.73% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 1.55% of Russia’s total imports from Colombia (0.85% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 0.85% of Russia’s total imports from Colombia (2.33% in the 1st quarter of 2018).
