Russia’s Trade with Cyprus

In the 1st quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Cyprus totaled $299,092,082, up 123.83% ($165,468,256) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Cyprus in the 1st quarter of 2019 totaled $297,494,418, up 126.87% ($166,366,352) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Cyprus in the 1st quarter of 2019 were $1,597,664, down 35.98% ($898,096) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Cyprus in the 1st quarter of 2019 was $295,896,754, a 130.03% increase ($167,264,448) over the 1st quarter of 2018.

Cyprus was Russia’s 62nd largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2019 (up from 77th in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.1900% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0848% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Cyprus was Russia’s 52nd largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2019 (up from 67th in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.2850% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.1273% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Cyprus was Russia’s 125th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2019 (down from 119th in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0030% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0046% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Cyprus

The major share of Russian exports to Cyprus in the 1st quarter of 2019 (and in the 1st quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 83.08% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (81.19% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 5.18% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (5.81% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 3.87% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (3.38% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 3.85% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (0.69% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 2.77% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (3.72% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 0.98% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (4.40% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Cyprus in the 1st quarter of 2019 over the 1st quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $139,601,326;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $10,736,384;
  • Ships, boats and floating structures (HS code 89) - an increase of $8,041,335;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $4,975,524;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $2,502,483;
  • Residues and waste from the food industries; prepared animal feed (HS code 23) - an increase of $2,209,063;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - an increase of $1,107,603.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Cyprus in the 1st quarter of 2019 over the 1st quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $2,912,432.

Russia’s Imports from Cyprus

The major share of Russian imports from Cyprus in the 1st quarter of 2019 (and in the 1st quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 33.42% of Russia’s total imports from Cyprus (14.83% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 3.16% of Russia’s total imports from Cyprus (0.00% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
