Russia’s Trade with Macedonia

In the 1st quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Macedonia was $23,398,270, down 31.56% ($10,789,579) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Macedonia in the 1st quarter of 2019 were $7,557,277, down 65.71% ($14,482,457) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Macedonia in the 1st quarter of 2019 totaled $15,840,993, up 30.40% ($3,692,878) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade balance with Macedonia went from a surplus of $9,891,619 in the 1st quarter of 2018, to a deficit of $8,283,716 in the 1st quarter of 2019.

Macedonia was Russia’s 115th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2019 (down from 110th in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0149% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0217% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Macedonia was Russia’s 122nd largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2019 (down from 102nd in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0072% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0214% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Macedonia was Russia’s 90th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2019 (up from 92nd in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0299% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0222% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Macedonia

The major share of Russian exports to Macedonia in the 1st quarter of 2019 (and in the 1st quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 78.82% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (11.54% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 7.07% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (2.07% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 4.85% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (1.59% in the 1st quarter of 2018);

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Macedonia in the 1st quarter of 2019 over the 1st quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $17,708,818;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $180,144;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $113,959;
  • Ceramic products (HS code 69) - a decrease of $25,495;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $25,063.

Russia’s Imports from Macedonia
