Russia’s Trade with Mongolia

In the 1st quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Mongolia totaled $381,236,664, up 28.79% ($85,213,400) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Mongolia in the 1st quarter of 2019 totaled $374,027,599, up 30.12% ($86,578,593) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Mongolia in the 1st quarter of 2019 were $7,209,065, down 15.92% ($1,365,193) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Mongolia in the 1st quarter of 2019 was $366,818,534, a 31.54% increase ($87,943,786) over the 1st quarter of 2018.

Mongolia was Russia’s 57th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2019 (up from 62nd in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.2422% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.1878% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Mongolia was Russia’s 45th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2019 (up from 50th in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.3583% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.2790% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Mongolia was Russia’s 99th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2019 (down from 96th in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0136% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0157% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Mongolia

The major share of Russian exports to Mongolia in the 1st quarter of 2019 (and in the 1st quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 72.93% of Russia’s total exports to Mongolia (53.96% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 10.39% of Russia’s total exports to Mongolia (22.03% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
