Russia’s Trade with Pakistan

In the 1st quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Pakistan was $191,503,584, down 41.33% ($134,916,208) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Pakistan in the 1st quarter of 2019 were $58,550,099, down 72.27% ($152,602,908) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Pakistan in the 1st quarter of 2019 totaled $132,953,485, up 15.34% ($17,686,700) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade balance with Pakistan went from a surplus of $95,886,222 in the 1st quarter of 2018, to a deficit of $74,403,386 in the 1st quarter of 2019.

Pakistan was Russia’s 73rd largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2019 (down from 59th in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.1216% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.2071% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Pakistan was Russia’s 82nd largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2019 (down from 58th in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0561% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.2050% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Pakistan was Russia’s 52nd largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2019 (up from 57th in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.2507% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.2111% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Pakistan

The major share of Russian exports to Pakistan in the 1st quarter of 2019 (and in the 1st quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 28.66% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (12.67% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 27.45% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (2.38% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 20.40% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (8.76% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 12.39% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (4.41% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 10.12% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (9.21% in the 1st quarter of 2018);

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Pakistan in the 1st quarter of 2019 over the 1st quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - an increase of $297,851.

Russia’s Imports from Pakistan

The major share of Russian imports from Pakistan in the 1st quarter of 2019 (and in the 1st quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:
