Russia’s Trade with Ecuador

In the 2nd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Ecuador totaled $414,150,665, up 1.18% ($4,829,846) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Ecuador in the 2nd quarter of 2019 totaled $74,478,214, up 25.79% ($15,271,261) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Ecuador in the 2nd quarter of 2019 were $339,672,451, down 2.98% ($10,441,415) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade deficit with Ecuador in the 2nd quarter of 2019 was $265,194,237, a 8.84% decrease ($25,712,676) over the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Ecuador was Russia’s 54th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (up from 55th in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.2587% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.2395% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Ecuador was Russia’s 79th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (up from 83rd in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0739% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0537% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Ecuador was Russia’s 32nd largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (up from 33rd in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.5726% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.5767% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Ecuador

The major share of Russian exports to Ecuador in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 47.03% of Russia’s total exports to Ecuador (28.89% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 40.26% of Russia’s total exports to Ecuador (44.59% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 4.33% of Russia’s total exports to Ecuador (10.03% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 3.98% of Russia’s total exports to Ecuador (5.97% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);

  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $1,911,187;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $782,929;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $763,368;
  • Products of animal origin, not elsewhere specified or included (HS code 05) - an increase of $337,377;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - an increase of $311,298;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $249,510.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Ecuador in the 2nd quarter of 2019 over the 2nd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $3,775,632;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $3,302,035;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $1,293,519;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - a decrease of $403,039;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $301,543;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $286,371.

Russia’s Imports from Ecuador

The major share of Russian imports from Ecuador in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 99.98% of Russia’s total imports from Ecuador (99.96% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Ecuador in the 2nd quarter of 2019 over the 2nd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fish and crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates (HS code 03) - an increase of $7,864,898;
  • Cocoa and cocoa preparations (HS code 18) - an increase of $4,519,082;
  • Miscellaneous edible preparations (HS code 21) - an increase of $1,826,980.
