Russia’s Trade with Egypt

In the 2nd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Egypt was $1,465,544,683, down 5.17% ($79,938,580) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Egypt in the 2nd quarter of 2019 were $1,281,599,937, down 4.19% ($56,104,661) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Egypt in the 2nd quarter of 2019 were $183,944,746, down 11.47% ($23,833,919) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Egypt in the 2nd quarter of 2019 was $1,097,655,191, a 2.86% decrease ($32,270,742) over the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Egypt was Russia’s 23rd largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (just as in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.9155% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.9043% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Egypt was Russia’s 19th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (down from 18th in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 1.2719% of Russia’s total exports (up from 1.2138% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Egypt was Russia’s 48th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (down from 43rd in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.3101% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.3423% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Egypt

The major share of Russian exports to Egypt in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 20.58% of Russia’s total exports to Egypt (32.32% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 14.72% of Russia’s total exports to Egypt (26.68% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 8.27% of Russia’s total exports to Egypt (5.84% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 6.81% of Russia’s total exports to Egypt (8.70% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Egypt in the 2nd quarter of 2019 over the 2nd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:
