Russia’s Trade with Finland

In the 2nd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Finland was $3,719,502,039, down 1.91% ($72,615,955) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Finland in the 2nd quarter of 2019 were $2,772,889,692, down 5.13% ($149,818,988) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Finland in the 2nd quarter of 2019 totaled $946,612,347, up 8.88% ($77,203,033) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Finland in the 2nd quarter of 2019 was $1,826,277,345, a 11.06% decrease ($227,022,021) over the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Finland was Russia’s 11th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (up from 13th in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 2.3234% of Russia’s total trade (up from 2.2188% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Finland was Russia’s 11th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (just as in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 2.7519% of Russia’s total exports (up from 2.6521% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Finland was Russia’s 15th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (up from 17th in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 1.5957% of Russia’s total imports (up from 1.4321% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Finland

The major share of Russian exports to Finland in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 66.75% of Russia’s total exports to Finland (59.04% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 13.20% of Russia’s total exports to Finland (13.06% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 11.86% of Russia’s total exports to Finland (19.87% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 4.95% of Russia’s total exports to Finland (4.69% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.76% of Russia’s total exports to Finland (1.97% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Imports from Finland

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 21.87% of Russia’s total imports from Finland (7.95% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 16.93% of Russia’s total imports from Finland (19.82% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 13.38% of Russia’s total imports from Finland (14.42% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
