Russia’s Trade with Macedonia

In the 2nd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Macedonia was $25,664,535, down 14.58% ($4,381,444) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Macedonia in the 2nd quarter of 2019 were $8,039,235, down 27.41% ($3,035,447) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Macedonia in the 2nd quarter of 2019 were $17,625,300, down 7.09% ($1,345,997) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade deficit with Macedonia in the 2nd quarter of 2019 was $9,586,065, a 21.39% increase ($1,689,450) over the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Macedonia was Russia’s 112th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (up from 116th in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0160% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0176% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Macedonia was Russia’s 124th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (down from 116th in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0080% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0100% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Macedonia was Russia’s 90th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (down from 87th in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0297% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0313% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Macedonia

The major share of Russian exports to Macedonia in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 86.21% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (79.08% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 4.99% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (5.46% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.74% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (1.50% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 2.58% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (10.50% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 2.12% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (1.19% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);

  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - an increase of $24,223.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Macedonia in the 2nd quarter of 2019 over the 2nd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $1,829,045;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $970,477;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $169,931;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $135,380;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $128,253;
  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - a decrease of $43,445.

Russia’s Imports from Macedonia

The major share of Russian imports from Macedonia in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 65.55% of Russia’s total imports from Macedonia (59.57% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 15.76% of Russia’s total imports from Macedonia (11.27% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 12.53% of Russia’s total imports from Macedonia (14.19% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 4.80% of Russia’s total imports from Macedonia (13.11% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).
