Russia’s Trade with Malta

In the 2nd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Malta was $1,005,057,613, down 22.16% ($286,060,721) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Malta in the 2nd quarter of 2019 were $1,000,008,647, down 21.95% ($281,268,241) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Malta in the 2nd quarter of 2019 were $5,048,966, down 48.70% ($4,792,480) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Malta in the 2nd quarter of 2019 was $994,959,681, a 21.75% decrease ($276,475,761) over the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Malta was Russia’s 33rd largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (down from 30th in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.6278% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.7554% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Malta was Russia’s 24th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (down from 19th in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.9924% of Russia’s total exports (down from 1.1626% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Malta was Russia’s 111th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (down from 96th in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0085% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0162% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Malta

The major share of Russian exports to Malta in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 98.56% of Russia’s total exports to Malta (99.87% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.38% of Russia’s total exports to Malta (0.07% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Malta in the 2nd quarter of 2019 over the 2nd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

Russia’s Imports from Malta

The major share of Russian imports from Malta in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 76.13% of Russia’s total imports from Malta (46.29% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 16.99% of Russia’s total imports from Malta (52.62% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 5.40% of Russia’s total imports from Malta (0.02% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Malta in the 2nd quarter of 2019 over the 2nd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:
