Russia’s Trade with Mexico

In the 2nd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Mexico was $583,796,636, down 19.97% ($145,714,011) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Mexico in the 2nd quarter of 2019 were $308,111,544, down 41.90% ($222,205,434) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Mexico in the 2nd quarter of 2019 totaled $275,685,092, up 38.40% ($76,491,423) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Mexico in the 2nd quarter of 2019 was $32,426,452, a 90.21% decrease ($298,696,857) over the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Mexico was Russia’s 43rd largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (down from 40th in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.3647% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.4268% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Mexico was Russia’s 48th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (down from 41st in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.3058% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.4812% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Mexico was Russia’s 38th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (up from 46th in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.4647% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.3281% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Mexico

The major share of Russian exports to Mexico in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 72.51% of Russia’s total exports to Mexico (71.58% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 20.79% of Russia’s total exports to Mexico (14.42% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 3.43% of Russia’s total exports to Mexico (0.87% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.93% of Russia’s total exports to Mexico (1.24% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 0.94% of Russia’s total exports to Mexico (1.30% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Mexico in the 2nd quarter of 2019 over the 2nd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:
