Russia’s Trade with Peru

In the 2nd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Peru totaled $140,359,103, up 14.71% ($17,996,631) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Peru in the 2nd quarter of 2019 were $42,375,601, down 46.20% ($36,386,308) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Peru in the 2nd quarter of 2019 totaled $97,983,502, up 124.73% ($54,382,939) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade balance with Peru went from a surplus of $35,161,346 in the 2nd quarter of 2018, to a deficit of $55,607,901 in the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Peru was Russia’s 75th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (up from 81st in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0877% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0716% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Peru was Russia’s 87th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (down from 82nd in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0421% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0715% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Peru was Russia’s 61st largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (up from 74th in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.1652% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0718% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Peru

The major share of Russian exports to Peru in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 54.51% of Russia’s total exports to Peru (51.36% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 36.04% of Russia’s total exports to Peru (13.57% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 3.78% of Russia’s total exports to Peru (2.44% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 1.88% of Russia’s total exports to Peru (20.14% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.37% of Russia’s total exports to Peru (0.69% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 0.02% of Russia’s total exports to Peru (10.75% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Peru in the 2nd quarter of 2019 over the 2nd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $4,617,275;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $323,593;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - an increase of $233,646;
  • Articles of stone, plaster, cement, asbestos, mica or similar materials (HS code 68) - an increase of $152,953;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $149,065.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Peru in the 2nd quarter of 2019 over the 2nd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $15,125,374;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $14,786,094;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $8,470,304;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $2,298,656;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $642,752;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $399,915;
  • Man-made filaments (HS code 54) - a decrease of $389,618;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $185,479.
