Russia’s Trade with Venezuela

In the 2nd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Venezuela was $18,733,870, down 42.38% ($13,780,262) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Venezuela in the 2nd quarter of 2019 were $18,667,585, down 42.10% ($13,574,242) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Venezuela in the 2nd quarter of 2019 were $66,285, down 75.66% ($206,020) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Venezuela in the 2nd quarter of 2019 was $18,601,300, a 41.82% decrease ($13,368,222) over the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Venezuela was Russia’s 121st largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (down from 111th in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0117% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0190% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Venezuela was Russia’s 104th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (down from 97th in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0185% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0293% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Venezuela was Russia’s 157th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (down from 142nd in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0001% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0004% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Imports from Venezuela

The major share of Russian imports from Venezuela in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 62.37% of Russia’s total imports from Venezuela (85.10% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.16% of Russia’s total imports from Venezuela (0.18% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 2.00% of Russia’s total imports from Venezuela (0.53% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Venezuela in the 2nd quarter of 2019 over the 2nd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Edible fruit and nuts; peel of citrus fruit or melons (HS code 08) - an increase of $17,081;
