Russia’s Trade with Argentina

In the 3rd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Argentina was $303,457,044, down 5.07% ($16,210,095) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Argentina in the 3rd quarter of 2019 were $102,856,307, down 11.54% ($13,418,176) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Argentina in the 3rd quarter of 2019 were $200,600,737, down 1.37% ($2,791,919) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade deficit with Argentina in the 3rd quarter of 2019 was $97,744,430, a 12.20% increase ($10,626,257) over the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Argentina was Russia’s 62nd largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (down from 59th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.1829% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.1858% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Argentina was Russia’s 75th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (down from 73rd in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0995% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.1036% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Argentina was Russia’s 44th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (just as in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.3207% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.3397% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Argentina

The major share of Russian exports to Argentina in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 65.42% of Russia’s total exports to Argentina (83.57% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 27.03% of Russia’s total exports to Argentina (10.48% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 4.53% of Russia’s total exports to Argentina (1.87% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 1.58% of Russia’s total exports to Argentina (2.57% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 0.97% of Russia’s total exports to Argentina (1.13% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Argentina in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $17,540,412;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $3,519,759;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - an increase of $1,445,848.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Argentina in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $31,335,126;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $1,757,696;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $1,156,009;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $825,470;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $490,841.

Russia’s Imports from Argentina

The major share of Russian imports from Argentina in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 93.70% of Russia’s total imports from Argentina (94.84% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 3.55% of Russia’s total imports from Argentina (2.03% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.06% of Russia’s total imports from Argentina (2.07% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Argentina in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:
