Russia’s Trade with Bulgaria

In the 3rd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Bulgaria was $719,350,682, down 12.85% ($106,095,701) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Bulgaria in the 3rd quarter of 2019 were $568,040,762, down 19.00% ($133,266,180) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Bulgaria in the 3rd quarter of 2019 totaled $151,309,920, up 21.89% ($27,170,479) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Bulgaria in the 3rd quarter of 2019 was $416,730,842, a 27.80% decrease ($160,436,659) over the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Bulgaria was Russia’s 40th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (down from 39th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.4337% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.4797% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Bulgaria was Russia’s 37th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (down from 31st in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.5498% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.6251% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Bulgaria was Russia’s 50th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (up from 53rd in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.2419% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.2073% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Bulgaria

The major share of Russian exports to Bulgaria in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 80.50% of Russia’s total exports to Bulgaria (87.50% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 10.94% of Russia’s total exports to Bulgaria (1.95% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 5.18% of Russia’s total exports to Bulgaria (3.57% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.54% of Russia’s total exports to Bulgaria (1.51% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $158,341,537;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $15,750,832;
