Russia’s Trade with Costa Rica
In the 3rd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Costa Rica totaled $27,093,612, up 14.13% ($3,354,451) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.
Russia’s exports to Costa Rica in the 3rd quarter of 2019 totaled $9,791,325, up 74.16% ($4,169,268) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.
Russia’s imports from Costa Rica in the 3rd quarter of 2019 were $17,302,287, down 4.50% ($814,817) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.
Russia’s trade deficit with Costa Rica in the 3rd quarter of 2019 was $7,510,962, a 39.89% decrease ($4,984,085) over the 3rd quarter of 2018.
Costa Rica was Russia’s 122nd largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (just as in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0163% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0138% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Imports from Costa Rica
The major share of Russian imports from Costa Rica in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:
- Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 47.55% of Russia’s total imports from Costa Rica (55.98% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
- Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 46.48% of Russia’s total imports from Costa Rica (35.31% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
- Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 1.77% of Russia’s total imports from Costa Rica (1.05% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
