Russia’s Trade with Ecuador

In the 3rd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Ecuador totaled $381,942,730, up 4.80% ($17,478,451) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Ecuador in the 3rd quarter of 2019 totaled $125,932,700, up 14.55% ($15,998,552) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Ecuador in the 3rd quarter of 2019 totaled $256,010,030, up 0.58% ($1,479,899) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade deficit with Ecuador in the 3rd quarter of 2019 was $130,077,330, a 10.04% decrease ($14,518,653) over the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Ecuador was Russia’s 57th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (down from 54th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.2303% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.2118% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Ecuador was Russia’s 71st largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (up from 77th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.1219% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0980% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Ecuador was Russia’s 39th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (down from 37th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.4093% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.4251% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Ecuador

The major share of Russian exports to Ecuador in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 82.41% of Russia’s total exports to Ecuador (55.46% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 9.83% of Russia’s total exports to Ecuador (21.60% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 4.58% of Russia’s total exports to Ecuador (6.83% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.26% of Russia’s total exports to Ecuador (4.95% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 1.03% of Russia’s total exports to Ecuador (2.65% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 0.86% of Russia’s total exports to Ecuador (8.43% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Ecuador in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $42,786,685;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $828,092.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Ecuador in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $9,625,645;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $8,443,397;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $2,427,642;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $1,949,289;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $1,893,482;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $1,597,640;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $1,393,122.

Russia’s Imports from Ecuador

The major share of Russian imports from Ecuador in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 99.90% of Russia’s total imports from Ecuador (99.95% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Ecuador in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fish and crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates (HS code 03) - an increase of $10,335,574;
  • Miscellaneous edible preparations (HS code 21) - an increase of $4,168,975;
  • Cocoa and cocoa preparations (HS code 18) - an increase of $1,542,354.

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Ecuador in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:
