Russia’s Trade with Egypt

In the 3rd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Egypt was $1,131,660,945, down 16.74% ($227,510,373) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Egypt in the 3rd quarter of 2019 were $1,070,220,387, down 18.67% ($245,633,955) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Egypt in the 3rd quarter of 2019 totaled $61,440,558, up 41.84% ($18,123,582) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Egypt in the 3rd quarter of 2019 was $1,008,779,829, a 20.73% decrease ($263,757,537) over the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Egypt was Russia’s 31st largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (down from 26th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.6823% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.7899% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Egypt was Russia’s 20th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (up from 21st in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 1.0358% of Russia’s total exports (down from 1.1728% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Egypt was Russia’s 71st largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (up from 75th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0982% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0723% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Egypt

The major share of Russian exports to Egypt in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 32.75% of Russia’s total exports to Egypt (41.41% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 20.18% of Russia’s total exports to Egypt (19.79% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 8.40% of Russia’s total exports to Egypt (5.61% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 7.88% of Russia’s total exports to Egypt (11.65% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);

  • Copper and articles thereof (HS code 74) - an increase of $29,864,616;

  • Ships, boats and floating structures (HS code 89) - an increase of $4,359,025.
