In the 3rd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Libya was $50,107,729, down 42.82% ($37,523,162) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Libya in the 3rd quarter of 2019 were $0, unchanged from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Libya in the 3rd quarter of 2019 was $50,107,729, a 42.82% decrease ($37,523,162) over the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Libya was Russia’s 103rd largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (down from 87th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0302% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0509% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Libya was Russia’s 89th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (down from 79th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0485% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0781% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

There were no Russia’s imports from Libya both in the 3rd quarter of 2019 and in the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s Exports to Libya

The major share of Russian exports to Libya in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 68.83% of Russia’s total exports to Libya (33.53% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 16.36% of Russia’s total exports to Libya (54.41% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 8.21% of Russia’s total exports to Libya (5.18% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 5.55% of Russia’s total exports to Libya (2.14% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 0.05% of Russia’s total exports to Libya (3.60% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Libya in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $4,299,579;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $903,854;
  • Cocoa and cocoa preparations (HS code 18) - an increase of $487,477;
  • Ships, boats and floating structures (HS code 89) - an increase of $250,000;
  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - an increase of $161,500.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Libya in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $39,486,712;
  • Printed books, newspapers, pictures and other products of the printing industry; manuscripts, typescripts and plans (HS code 49) - a decrease of $3,144,508;
  • Natural or cultured pearls, precious or semi-precious stones,precious metals, metals clad with precious metal and articles thereof; imitation jewelry; coin (HS code 71) - a decrease of $640,200;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - a decrease of $351,363;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $153,933.
