Russia’s Trade with Luxembourg

In the 3rd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Luxembourg was $55,883,658, down 11.88% ($7,536,746) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Luxembourg in the 3rd quarter of 2019 were $10,046,877, down 20.18% ($2,540,714) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Luxembourg in the 3rd quarter of 2019 were $45,836,781, down 9.83% ($4,996,032) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade deficit with Luxembourg in the 3rd quarter of 2019 was $35,789,904, a 6.42% decrease ($2,455,318) over the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Luxembourg was Russia’s 102nd largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (down from 96th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0337% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0369% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Luxembourg was Russia’s 124th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (down from 116th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0097% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0112% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Luxembourg was Russia’s 76th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (down from 70th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0733% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0849% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Luxembourg

The major share of Russian exports to Luxembourg in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 66.25% of Russia’s total exports to Luxembourg (71.36% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 25.68% of Russia’s total exports to Luxembourg (19.16% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 3.53% of Russia’s total exports to Luxembourg (1.94% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 3.19% of Russia’s total exports to Luxembourg (4.07% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.08% of Russia’s total exports to Luxembourg (2.95% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Luxembourg in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $303,226;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $110,521;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $94,544;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - an increase of $75,123.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Luxembourg in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $2,401,753;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $279,357;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - a decrease of $244,109;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $135,035;
  • Glass and glassware (HS code 70) - a decrease of $63,642.

Russia’s Imports from Luxembourg

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 17.83% of Russia’s total imports from Luxembourg (21.48% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 15.77% of Russia’s total imports from Luxembourg (14.71% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);

  • Essential oils and resinoids; perfumery, cosmetic or toilet preparations (HS code 33) - an increase of $401,326;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $223,114.

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Luxembourg in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $4,275,929;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $2,264,150;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $2,038,349;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $980,503;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $659,618;
  • Tools, implements, cutlery, spoons and forks, of base metal; parts thereof of base metal (HS code 82) - a decrease of $452,819;
  • Printed books, newspapers, pictures and other products of the printing industry; manuscripts, typescripts and plans (HS code 49) - a decrease of $387,242;
