Russia’s Trade with Malta

In the 3rd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Malta was $917,541,202, down 16.13% ($176,437,634) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Malta in the 3rd quarter of 2019 were $912,484,288, down 16.29% ($177,583,586) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Malta in the 3rd quarter of 2019 totaled $5,056,914, up 29.30% ($1,145,952) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Malta in the 3rd quarter of 2019 was $907,427,374, a 16.46% decrease ($178,729,538) over the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Malta was Russia’s 36th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (down from 31st in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.5532% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.6358% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Malta was Russia’s 26th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (down from 25th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.8831% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.9716% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Malta was Russia’s 109th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (down from 108th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0081% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0065% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Imports from Malta

The major share of Russian imports from Malta in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 78.03% of Russia’s total imports from Malta (56.80% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 20.63% of Russia’s total imports from Malta (39.77% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 0.17% of Russia’s total imports from Malta (1.18% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).
