Russia’s Trade with Montenegro

In the 3rd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Montenegro totaled $13,778,742, up 54.81% ($4,878,386) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Montenegro in the 3rd quarter of 2019 totaled $7,502,253, up 316.49% ($5,700,965) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Montenegro in the 3rd quarter of 2019 were $6,276,489, down 11.59% ($822,579) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade balance with Montenegro went from a deficit of $5,297,780 in the 3rd quarter of 2018, to a surplus of $1,225,764 in the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Montenegro was Russia’s 138th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (up from 140th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0083% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0052% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Montenegro was Russia’s 130th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (up from 151st in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0073% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0016% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Montenegro was Russia’s 104th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (down from 100th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0100% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0119% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Montenegro

The major share of Russian exports to Montenegro in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 73.15% of Russia’s total exports to Montenegro (0.64% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 11.98% of Russia’s total exports to Montenegro (32.09% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 9.00% of Russia’s total exports to Montenegro (50.65% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 3.98% of Russia’s total exports to Montenegro (12.18% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 0.12% of Russia’s total exports to Montenegro (1.30% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Montenegro in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $5,456,579;
  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - an increase of $315,017;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $56,122;
  • Man-made filaments (HS code 54) - an increase of $32,729;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $24,136.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Montenegro in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $237,067.

Russia’s Imports from Montenegro

The major share of Russian imports from Montenegro in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 91.04% of Russia’s total imports from Montenegro (87.14% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.38% of Russia’s total imports from Montenegro (1.83% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Montenegro in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $25,509.

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Montenegro in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - a decrease of $475,233;
  • Articles of stone, plaster, cement, asbestos, mica or similar materials (HS code 68) - a decrease of $367,186.
