Russia’s Trade with Mozambique

In the 3rd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Mozambique was $30,156,854, down 39.18% ($19,428,552) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Mozambique in the 3rd quarter of 2019 were $26,642,800, down 43.18% ($20,250,693) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Mozambique in the 3rd quarter of 2019 totaled $3,514,054, up 30.54% ($822,141) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Mozambique in the 3rd quarter of 2019 was $23,128,746, a 47.67% decrease ($21,072,834) over the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Mozambique was Russia’s 116th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (down from 102nd in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0182% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0288% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Mozambique was Russia’s 106th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (down from 93rd in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0258% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0418% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Mozambique was Russia’s 114th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (up from 115th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0056% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0045% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Mozambique

The major share of Russian exports to Mozambique in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 79.10% of Russia’s total exports to Mozambique (74.77% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 18.53% of Russia’s total exports to Mozambique (20.84% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 2.23% of Russia’s total exports to Mozambique (3.86% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Mozambique in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $93,935.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Mozambique in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $14,030,252;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $4,945,682;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $1,145,384;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $228,883.

Russia’s Imports from Mozambique

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 98.76% of Russia’s total imports from Mozambique (99.94% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 1.23% of Russia’s total imports from Mozambique (0.00% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Mozambique in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - an increase of $1,020,595;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - an increase of $43,313.
