Russia’s Trade with Nicaragua

In the 3rd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Nicaragua totaled $19,536,005, up 66.81% ($7,824,737) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Nicaragua in the 3rd quarter of 2019 totaled $15,082,156, up 119.00% ($8,195,430) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Nicaragua in the 3rd quarter of 2019 were $4,453,849, down 7.68% ($370,693) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Nicaragua in the 3rd quarter of 2019 was $10,628,307, a 415.39% increase ($8,566,123) over the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Nicaragua was Russia’s 130th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (up from 134th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0118% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0068% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Nicaragua was Russia’s 118th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (up from 126th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0146% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0061% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Nicaragua was Russia’s 112th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (down from 106th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0071% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0081% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Nicaragua

The major share of Russian exports to Nicaragua in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 52.04% of Russia’s total exports to Nicaragua (5.51% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 45.97% of Russia’s total exports to Nicaragua (88.13% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 1.81% of Russia’s total exports to Nicaragua (4.51% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);

Russia’s Imports from Nicaragua

The major share of Russian imports from Nicaragua in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 95.75% of Russia’s total imports from Nicaragua (97.93% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 3.35% of Russia’s total imports from Nicaragua (1.94% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Nicaragua in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Oil seeds and oleaginous fruits; miscellaneous grains, seeds and fruits; industrial or medicinal plants; straw and fodder (HS code 12) - a decrease of $1,176,788.
