Russia’s Trade with Qatar

In the 3rd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Qatar was $17,471,759, down 23.40% ($5,336,059) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Qatar in the 3rd quarter of 2019 were $6,826,921, down 29.53% ($2,860,352) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Qatar in the 3rd quarter of 2019 were $10,644,838, down 18.87% ($2,475,707) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade deficit with Qatar in the 3rd quarter of 2019 was $3,817,917, a 11.20% increase ($384,645) over the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Qatar was Russia’s 135th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (down from 123rd in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0105% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0133% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Qatar was Russia’s 132nd largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (down from 121st in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0066% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0086% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Qatar was Russia’s 96th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (down from 94th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0170% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0219% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Qatar

The major share of Russian exports to Qatar in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 52.31% of Russia’s total exports to Qatar (62.73% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 19.04% of Russia’s total exports to Qatar (8.31% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 18.59% of Russia’s total exports to Qatar (20.49% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 4.71% of Russia’s total exports to Qatar (0.99% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.52% of Russia’s total exports to Qatar (1.50% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 1.10% of Russia’s total exports to Qatar (2.56% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

  • Soap, organic surface-active agents, washing preparations, lubricating preparations, artificial waxes, prepared waxes, polishing or scouring preparations, candles and similar articles, modeling pastes, "dental waxes" and dental preparations with a basis of plaster (HS code 34) - an increase of $33,895.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Qatar in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $2,051,452;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $602,353;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $585,916;
  • Dairy produce; birds eggs; natural honey; edible products of animal origin, not elsewhere specified or included (HS code 04) - a decrease of $375,104;
  • Coffee, tea, maté and spices (HS code 09) - a decrease of $270,720;
  • Glass and glassware (HS code 70) - a decrease of $194,230;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $172,127;
  • Tools, implements, cutlery, spoons and forks, of base metal; parts thereof of base metal (HS code 82) - a decrease of $139,016;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $90,020;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - a decrease of $75,617;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - a decrease of $71,875;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $70,504.

Russia’s Imports from Qatar

The major share of Russian imports from Qatar in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:
