Russia’s Trade with Saudi Arabia
In the 3rd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Saudi Arabia totaled $548,725,244, up 99.37% ($273,489,884) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.
Russia’s exports to Saudi Arabia in the 3rd quarter of 2019 totaled $480,155,940, up 142.10% ($281,822,282) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.
Russia’s imports from Saudi Arabia in the 3rd quarter of 2019 were $68,569,304, down 10.84% ($8,332,398) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.
Russia’s trade surplus with Saudi Arabia in the 3rd quarter of 2019 was $411,586,636, a 238.94% increase ($290,154,680) over the 3rd quarter of 2018.
Saudi Arabia was Russia’s 48th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (up from 67th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.3308% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.1600% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).
Saudi Arabia was Russia’s 38th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (up from 61st in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.4647% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.1768% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).
Saudi Arabia was Russia’s 66th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (down from 60th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.1096% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.1284% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).
Russia’s Exports to Saudi Arabia
The major share of Russian exports to Saudi Arabia in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:
- Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 33.07% of Russia’s total exports to Saudi Arabia (82.00% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
- Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 26.72% of Russia’s total exports to Saudi Arabia (1.24% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
- Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 13.97% of Russia’s total exports to Saudi Arabia (1.38% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
- Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 4.02% of Russia’s total exports to Saudi Arabia (6.76% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
- Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 3.01% of Russia’s total exports to Saudi Arabia (2.88% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
- Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.88% of Russia’s total exports to Saudi Arabia (5.20% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

- Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $64,318,049;
- Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $14,944,142;
- Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - an increase of $8,044,946;
- Meat and edible meat offal (HS code 02) - an increase of $7,393,746;
- Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $3,026,646.
The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Saudi Arabia in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:
- Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $11,407,027;
- Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $9,025,068;
