Russia’s Trade with Slovenia

In the 3rd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Slovenia totaled $406,277,774, up 42.34% ($120,854,290) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Slovenia in the 3rd quarter of 2019 totaled $117,735,578, up 164.86% ($73,284,132) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Slovenia in the 3rd quarter of 2019 totaled $288,542,196, up 19.74% ($47,570,158) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade deficit with Slovenia in the 3rd quarter of 2019 was $170,806,618, a 13.08% decrease ($25,713,974) over the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Slovenia was Russia’s 56th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (up from 66th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.2449% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.1659% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Slovenia was Russia’s 72nd largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (up from 94th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.1139% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0396% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Slovenia was Russia’s 37th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (up from 40th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.4613% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.4025% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Slovenia

The major share of Russian exports to Slovenia in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 91.07% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (81.68% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 4.16% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (8.01% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 1.60% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (2.55% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.10% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (2.37% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 0.81% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (2.70% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Slovenia in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $70,918,235;
  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - an increase of $1,227,917;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $805,344;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $481,955.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Slovenia in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

Russia’s Imports from Slovenia

The major share of Russian imports from Slovenia in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 58.40% of Russia’s total imports from Slovenia (53.94% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 28.47% of Russia’s total imports from Slovenia (29.01% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 5.18% of Russia’s total imports from Slovenia (8.15% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 2.93% of Russia’s total imports from Slovenia (3.24% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 1.83% of Russia’s total imports from Slovenia (2.40% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);

  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $11,055,544;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $10,774,159;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $4,551,722;
  • Tanning or dyeing extracts; dyes, pigments, paints, varnishes, putty and mastics (HS code 32) - an increase of $3,092,294.

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Slovenia in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $5,407,085;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $2,251,980;
  • Preparations of cereals, flour, starch or milk; bakers’ wares (HS code 19) - a decrease of $1,193,743;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $1,101,233.
