Russia’s Trade with Sri Lanka

In the 3rd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Sri Lanka totaled $88,538,300, up 2.41% ($2,079,807) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Sri Lanka in the 3rd quarter of 2019 totaled $17,923,009, up 42.16% ($5,314,976) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Sri Lanka in the 3rd quarter of 2019 were $70,615,291, down 4.38% ($3,235,169) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade deficit with Sri Lanka in the 3rd quarter of 2019 was $52,692,282, a 13.96% decrease ($8,550,145) over the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Sri Lanka was Russia’s 86th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (up from 88th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0534% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0502% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Sri Lanka was Russia’s 115th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (just as in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0173% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0112% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Sri Lanka was Russia’s 64th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (down from 62nd in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.1129% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.1233% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $241,171;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $215,776;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $168,003.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Sri Lanka in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $2,926,393;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $145,956;
  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - a decrease of $136,431.

Russia’s Imports from Sri Lanka
