Russia’s Trade with Switzerland

In the 3rd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Switzerland was $1,744,252,021, down 21.95% ($490,433,768) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Switzerland in the 3rd quarter of 2019 were $1,062,141,991, down 33.74% ($540,730,334) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Switzerland in the 3rd quarter of 2019 totaled $682,110,030, up 7.96% ($50,296,566) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Switzerland in the 3rd quarter of 2019 was $380,031,961, a 60.86% decrease ($591,026,900) over the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Switzerland was Russia’s 19th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (down from 18th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 1.0516% of Russia’s total trade (down from 1.2987% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Switzerland was Russia’s 21st largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (down from 17th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 1.0280% of Russia’s total exports (down from 1.4286% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Switzerland was Russia’s 20th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (just as in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 1.0905% of Russia’s total imports (up from 1.0552% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Switzerland

The major share of Russian exports to Switzerland in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 49.34% of Russia’s total exports to Switzerland (59.58% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 41.60% of Russia’s total exports to Switzerland (25.32% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 4.78% of Russia’s total exports to Switzerland (9.12% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 1.84% of Russia’s total exports to Switzerland (2.19% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
