Russia’s Trade with Thailand

In the 3rd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Thailand was $593,809,969, down 17.58% ($126,627,815) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Thailand in the 3rd quarter of 2019 were $126,352,861, down 48.89% ($120,876,391) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Thailand in the 3rd quarter of 2019 were $467,457,108, down 1.22% ($5,751,424) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade deficit with Thailand in the 3rd quarter of 2019 was $341,104,247, a 50.94% increase ($115,124,967) over the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Thailand was Russia’s 45th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (down from 41st in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.3580% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.4187% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Thailand was Russia’s 70th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (down from 52nd in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.1223% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.2204% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Thailand was Russia’s 27th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (up from 28th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.7474% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.7903% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Thailand

The major share of Russian exports to Thailand in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 56.22% of Russia’s total exports to Thailand (62.62% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 18.98% of Russia’s total exports to Thailand (15.98% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 17.86% of Russia’s total exports to Thailand (9.93% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 3.28% of Russia’s total exports to Thailand (3.42% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 1.59% of Russia’s total exports to Thailand (7.22% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);

  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - an increase of $603,332;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $526,158.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Thailand in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $11,197,491;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $8,387,120;
