Russia’s Trade with the Philippines

In the 3rd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with the Philippines was $280,452,414, down 4.06% ($11,858,238) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to the Philippines in the 3rd quarter of 2019 were $167,407,497, down 10.95% ($20,593,834) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from the Philippines in the 3rd quarter of 2019 totaled $113,044,917, up 8.37% ($8,735,596) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with the Philippines in the 3rd quarter of 2019 was $54,362,580, a 35.04% decrease ($29,329,430) over the 3rd quarter of 2018.

The Philippines was Russia’s 66th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (down from 65th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.1691% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.1699% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

The Philippines was Russia’s 61st largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (up from 63rd in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.1620% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.1676% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

The Philippines was Russia’s 57th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (down from 56th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.1807% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.1742% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to the Philippines

The major share of Russian exports to the Philippines in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 62.03% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (27.69% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 15.41% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (17.18% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 14.46% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (47.99% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 4.51% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (5.09% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.94% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (0.86% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);

  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - an increase of $916,409;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $684,738;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $624,862.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to the Philippines in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $65,997,471;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $7,975,091;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $2,061,652;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $1,866,430.

Russia’s Imports from the Philippines

The major share of Russian imports from the Philippines in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 79.41% of Russia’s total imports from the Philippines (82.11% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 12.53% of Russia’s total imports from the Philippines (10.30% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 3.65% of Russia’s total imports from the Philippines (3.51% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
