Russia’s Trade with Uruguay

In the 3rd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Uruguay totaled $49,111,947, up 12.03% ($5,275,403) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Uruguay in the 3rd quarter of 2019 totaled $10,198,562, up 232.62% ($7,132,451) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Uruguay in the 3rd quarter of 2019 were $38,913,385, down 4.55% ($1,857,048) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade deficit with Uruguay in the 3rd quarter of 2019 was $28,714,823, a 23.84% decrease ($8,989,499) over the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Uruguay was Russia’s 104th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (up from 106th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0296% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0255% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Uruguay was Russia’s 123rd largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (up from 141st in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0099% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0027% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Uruguay was Russia’s 79th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (down from 77th in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0622% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0681% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Uruguay

The major share of Russian exports to Uruguay in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 80.69% of Russia’s total exports to Uruguay (45.38% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 7.98% of Russia’s total exports to Uruguay (35.62% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 3.58% of Russia’s total exports to Uruguay (0.00% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 3.52% of Russia’s total exports to Uruguay (13.53% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 3.37% of Russia’s total exports to Uruguay (0.20% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 0.54% of Russia’s total exports to Uruguay (4.34% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Uruguay in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $6,719,212;
  • Products of the milling industry; malt; starches; inulin; wheat gluten (HS code 11) - an increase of $320,040;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $316,249;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $222,887;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $87,056;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $60,222;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $49,320.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Uruguay in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - a decrease of $501,641;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $79,861;
  • Wool, fine or coarse animal hair; horsehair yarn and woven fabric (HS code 51) - a decrease of $56,150.

Russia’s Imports from Uruguay

The major share of Russian imports from Uruguay in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 95.83% of Russia’s total imports from Uruguay (98.97% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.54% of Russia’s total imports from Uruguay (0.98% in the 3rd quarter of 2018);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 1.53% of Russia’s total imports from Uruguay (0.01% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

  • Wool, fine or coarse animal hair; horsehair yarn and woven fabric (HS code 51) - an increase of $586,466;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - an increase of $212,249;

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Uruguay in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Meat and edible meat offal (HS code 02) - a decrease of $9,027,633;
  • Beverages, spirits and vinegar (HS code 22) - a decrease of $4,094,941;
  • Albuminoidal substances; modified starches; glues; enzymes (HS code 35) - a decrease of $196,501;
  • Products of animal origin, not elsewhere specified or included (HS code 05) - a decrease of $180,023.
