Russia’s Trade with Bangladesh

In the 4th quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Bangladesh totaled $766,710,655, up 50.07% ($255,804,587) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Bangladesh in the 4th quarter of 2019 totaled $564,209,472, up 74.26% ($240,432,432) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Bangladesh in the 4th quarter of 2019 totaled $202,501,183, up 8.21% ($15,372,155) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Bangladesh in the 4th quarter of 2019 was $361,708,289, a 164.70% increase ($225,060,277) over the 4th quarter of 2018.

Bangladesh was Russia’s 43rd largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2019 (up from 50th in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.4263% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.2735% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Bangladesh was Russia’s 41st largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2019 (up from 53rd in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.5045% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.2601% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Bangladesh was Russia’s 44th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2019 (up from 46th in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.2977% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.3002% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Bangladesh

The major share of Russian exports to Bangladesh in the 4th quarter of 2019 (and in the 4th quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 43.33% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (40.59% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 23.54% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (24.71% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 18.11% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (6.33% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 5.07% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (15.22% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 1.94% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (3.16% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 0.41% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (9.14% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Bangladesh in the 4th quarter of 2019 over the 4th quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $115,618,617;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $87,482,415;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - an increase of $78,657,584;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $1,950,816.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Bangladesh in the 4th quarter of 2019 over the 4th quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $30,404,800;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $29,154,252;
  • Printed books, newspapers, pictures and other products of the printing industry; manuscripts, typescripts and plans (HS code 49) - a decrease of $20,342,065;
  • Ships, boats and floating structures (HS code 89) - a decrease of $4,751,074;
  • Oil seeds and oleaginous fruits; miscellaneous grains, seeds and fruits; industrial or medicinal plants; straw and fodder (HS code 12) - a decrease of $2,416,744.

Russia’s Imports from Bangladesh
