Russia’s Trade with Belarus

In the 4th quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Belarus totaled $8,567,580,509, up 0.06% ($5,474,852) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Belarus in the 4th quarter of 2019 were $5,319,188,046, down 2.97% ($162,782,386) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Belarus in the 4th quarter of 2019 totaled $3,248,392,463, up 5.46% ($168,257,238) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Belarus in the 4th quarter of 2019 was $2,070,795,583, a 13.78% decrease ($331,039,624) over the 4th quarter of 2018.

Belarus was Russia’s 4th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2019 (just as in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 4.7632% of Russia’s total trade (up from 4.5827% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Belarus was Russia’s 5th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2019 (down from 4th in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 4.7560% of Russia’s total exports (up from 4.4035% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Belarus was Russia’s 5th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2019 (down from 4th in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 4.7751% of Russia’s total imports (down from 4.9405% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Belarus

The major share of Russian exports to Belarus in the 4th quarter of 2019 (and in the 4th quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 46.87% of Russia’s total exports to Belarus (48.69% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 15.84% of Russia’s total exports to Belarus (16.91% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 10.33% of Russia’s total exports to Belarus (11.25% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
