Russia’s Trade with Chile

In the 4th quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Chile was $281,017,101, down 5.07% ($14,997,683) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Chile in the 4th quarter of 2019 were $27,159,262, down 3.07% ($859,432) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Chile in the 4th quarter of 2019 were $253,857,839, down 5.28% ($14,138,251) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade deficit with Chile in the 4th quarter of 2019 was $226,698,577, a 5.53% decrease ($13,278,819) over the 4th quarter of 2018.

Chile was Russia’s 66th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2019 (just as in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.1562% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.1584% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Chile was Russia’s 97th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2019 (up from 102nd in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0243% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0225% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Chile was Russia’s 42nd largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2019 (down from 36th in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.3732% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.4299% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Chile

The major share of Russian exports to Chile in the 4th quarter of 2019 (and in the 4th quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 47.42% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (37.66% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 30.17% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (26.70% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 8.49% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (1.88% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 7.43% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (21.70% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 3.27% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (5.19% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 2.46% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (6.05% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Chile in the 4th quarter of 2019 over the 4th quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $2,325,311;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $1,668,867;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $1,214,606;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $628,676;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $140,670;
  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - an increase of $128,621;
  • Tools, implements, cutlery, spoons and forks, of base metal; parts thereof of base metal (HS code 82) - an increase of $118,615;
  • Coffee, tea, maté and spices (HS code 09) - an increase of $117,803;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $97,015.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Chile in the 4th quarter of 2019 over the 4th quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $2,714,992;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $1,344,774;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $1,183,652;
  • Beverages, spirits and vinegar (HS code 22) - a decrease of $567,465;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $489,144;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $325,465;
  • Products of the milling industry; malt; starches; inulin; wheat gluten (HS code 11) - a decrease of $205,662;
  • Tanning or dyeing extracts; dyes, pigments, paints, varnishes, putty and mastics (HS code 32) - a decrease of $131,695;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $128,112;
  • Essential oils and resinoids; perfumery, cosmetic or toilet preparations (HS code 33) - a decrease of $96,587;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $90,830.

Russia’s Imports from Chile

The major share of Russian imports from Chile in the 4th quarter of 2019 (and in the 4th quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 71.33% of Russia’s total imports from Chile (84.66% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 10.76% of Russia’s total imports from Chile (0.00% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 10.23% of Russia’s total imports from Chile (8.34% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 6.48% of Russia’s total imports from Chile (6.55% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Chile in the 4th quarter of 2019 over the 4th quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:
