Russia’s Trade with Colombia

In the 4th quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Colombia was $62,612,705, down 49.26% ($60,788,624) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Colombia in the 4th quarter of 2019 were $29,253,990, down 63.63% ($51,189,493) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Colombia in the 4th quarter of 2019 were $33,358,715, down 22.35% ($9,599,131) from the 4th quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade balance with Colombia went from a surplus of $37,485,637 in the 4th quarter of 2018, to a deficit of $4,104,725 in the 4th quarter of 2019.

Colombia was Russia’s 95th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2019 (down from 82nd in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0348% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0660% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Colombia was Russia’s 96th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2019 (down from 83rd in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0262% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0646% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Colombia was Russia’s 81st largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2019 (down from 79th in the 4th quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0490% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0689% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Colombia

The major share of Russian exports to Colombia in the 4th quarter of 2019 (and in the 4th quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 46.30% of Russia’s total exports to Colombia (17.47% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 17.78% of Russia’s total exports to Colombia (9.07% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 12.86% of Russia’s total exports to Colombia (54.25% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 4.84% of Russia’s total exports to Colombia (2.48% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 3.44% of Russia’s total exports to Colombia (14.97% in the 4th quarter of 2018).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Colombia in the 4th quarter of 2019 over the 4th quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $1,033,154;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $765,394;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $475,080;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $235,361.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Colombia in the 4th quarter of 2019 over the 4th quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $39,877,246;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $11,227,593;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $1,847,089;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $1,607,665;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $1,056,323;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $386,041;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - a decrease of $245,404;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $167,290;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $120,621;
  • Beverages, spirits and vinegar (HS code 22) - a decrease of $93,905.

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 7.22% of Russia’s total imports from Colombia (8.39% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 1.47% of Russia’s total imports from Colombia (0.01% in the 4th quarter of 2018);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 1.25% of Russia’s total imports from Colombia (0.72% in the 4th quarter of 2018).
